Schoolhouse
Schoolhouse
In 1850, Mr John Smith established a sheep station 12 miles north-east of Penola and called the site Comaum. By 1888, Comaum School had opened to keep up with the arrival of families to the area. Our Coonawarra vineyard is situated on the original schoolhouse site, with a special wine released in its honour each year.
Schoolhouse is the top brand of the large wine enterprise CW Wines, a business with a host of local and SA labels. Coonawarra shiraz and cabernet sauvignon are Schoolhouse’s mainstays, with a Limestone Coast sauvignon blanc featuring in the 2nd tier Headmaster range. The wines are crafted by Ben Wurst, who has worked in the region for close to 20 years.
